TGIF

If we make it through today, we will be good! This has been a great week in many ways and a horrible week in others. Glad it is almost over.

Jake has had a great first week of school. He loves it. He loves his teachers, he enjoys his classmates and he seems to thrive with the structure. He is going to bed better and getting up better...so far!! His overall mood has been, for the most part, delightful.

And, doesn't he look so cute in his uniform??

I am thankful that this transition to all day school has been a good way! Praying it continues and that he grows a lot this year.

One day this week while Jake was gone, Abby snuck into his bedroom and gathered up his transformer collection. I knew when I saw it that this was a very bad thing! Jake has them all lined up on a shelf and one time someone came through our house for a showing and their child touched a couple. They were barely moved, but he knew and was not happy. Perhaps a bit OCD when it comes to the transformers.

She helped him locate all the missing pieces and eventually worked up a quick "I'm sorry" although I really don't think she was. But, like I told Jake...she's two. You need to lock your door when you leave.

As far as the bad, Jeremy has had to deal with some difficult things at the office this week which called for some super late nights. One of those nights he took Cara with him. She was so happy for this big privilege of getting to go to work with Daddy! She apparently enjoyed candy bars and pop while there and playing games on the computer. She is definitely a "Daddy's Girl" and after running out to the car in pj's bawling her eyes out he couldn't not take her with him!! Jake said, "Mom, I know why Cara wants to go with Daddy so bad." "She likes him better than you." He went on to say, "But don't worry...I like you!" HA! It's all good. I loved my Daddy too so I get her :).

Cara is sick. I think she has croup. Her BFF, Ellie has a birthday party on Sunday so I hope she is better. She will be so disappointed to miss it. We also have a showing tonight. Going to be a busy day!

First Day of First Grade

Well, the first day of first grade was a huge success - thank you, LORD! Jake prayed last night, "Dear God. I really loved the first day of school. Please let tomorrow be even better."

I asked him what his favorite part of school was and he said two recesses, snack and lunch! He has a few boys in his class from Kindergarten and he is enjoying that. There are four new girls which is good because last year there were only two in his class.

He seems to really like his teacher. She has been teaching first grade for 25 years and seems great.

Everyone was exhausted after a long day and went to bed easily. As I was sitting next to Abby's bed reading a book, she tapped my shoulder and whispered "love you." It was so sweet. She had great big eyes as if to tell me she was serious about it!

Cara missed Jake. I think this will be a nice time for the girls to play more and become better friends. Jake seemed to miss us too. He said, "Mom, I told you we needed to get a cell phone before school started."Ha!! Can you imagine a first grader with a cell phone...

Let's hope for another great day!!

More Pool Fun

I took my camera to the pool today to try to catch some pictures of our time there. We are still enjoying the pool. It is not old and we have fun everyday! Sometimes I feel like all they want to do is swing, eat and play with their friends outside of the water. It's okay though. I love it and so do they!

I'm thinking she has outgrown this suit...
this is her BFF.

Abby getting her "stuff" together and Jake watching the
girls play with their ponies.

Gotta love this!

Jake did his first of many flips off the diving board today. He is his Daddy!

This little girl IS her own person.

I thank the Lord that I get to do this with them. What a blessing!

Weekend Trip

It seems like we have been on the road a lot this summer. We enjoyed time with our friends in Pennsylvania about 3 weeks ago and then the following week we made a trip to see Jake's doctor in Pennsylvania. Last weekend we enjoyed a trip to Knoxville. It was short, but fun! The kids had a blast with their Tennessee family.

Somehow, even though we went to celebrate Grandpa's birthday, these are the only pictures I have. I forgot I had a camera I think until the last few hours at the lake.

Fun, fun times and great memories for our little people!

Day out with my little guy

Today, my cousin Betsy took the girls swimming while Jake and I spent some one-on-one time. We had such a great time together, just the two of us. He definitely enjoyed this, but I loved it. So much fun! We saw a movie and then ran into Gymboree to look for some shoes (which they didn't have). While we were there he spotted a cute messenger type bag that can also be worn as a backpack. He really liked it so we got it and then he saw a hat store and decided he needed oneof those too. He said, "Mom, I really need a new hat." Fun stuff...very different than shopping with Cara...and much faster too!

We stopped and bought snow cones too and then sat and enjoyed them together. Tonight he cut out the letters "I" a heart and a "U" and gave them to me. I love him too!
