To our surprise, Cara mastered riding her bike over the weekend. I think Jake encouraged her to try it without training wheels. Jeremy took them off, somewhat reluctantly, and then spent the next few hours outside running around holding onto the back of her bike. She did not give up and worked so hard to prove that she too could ride without help... like Jake! She practiced Friday night and Saturday. This morning, she was first up (as usual) and enjoyed breakfast with Jeremy and then more one-on-one bike time with him. By the time the rest of us rolled out of bed she was starting herself and riding in circles with an occasional "trick" of taking her feet off and gliding!!
We were actually a little bit surprised at how she persevered. She is so proud of herself. I jokingly said we should have a cake to celebrate her accomplishment since Cara is always up for a good cake! She said, "Yes, with a bike on it, please :)!"

Just a quick little note - - I am really thankful for Jeremy. He really enjoys helping the kids learn new things. Even though it took a lot of his time walking/running/bending over to keep that little girl from crashing over and over, he didn't seem to mind. He was up early this morning for day 3 of "bike practice" and never got frustrated, tired, or too sweaty! This is turning out to be a big summer for her with lots of accomplishments and it seems to be boosting her confidence. Do you think she might actually go to preschool without any tears??
